Chernoff Newman is an integrated communications agency with offices in Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston, and Orlando. We serve clients across the country, with a focus in the Southeast. We specialize in the retail, government, healthcare, education and workforce development, food and beverage and financial sectors, among others. 

Chernoff Newman is seeking a Senior Account Executive to lead client relationships, drive account growth, and develop new business opportunities for the agency.  The ideal candidate is someone with strong connections in the state of Florida, who is eager to manage high-level client engagements. As Chernoff Newman expands its presence in Florida, the right candidate will be empowered to build a team and lead the growth of the firm’s southern frontier.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service, strategic guidance, and results-driven execution
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and lead new business development efforts
  • Drive efforts to secure new clients, including developing proposals, pitch presentations, and networking
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders in the state of Florida, including state agencies, policymakers, the business community, industry leaders (i.e., higher education, healthcare, agriculture, workforce development), media contacts, and advocacy groups to expand the firm’s influence and network
  • Pursue expert-level knowledge of the service offerings Chernoff Newman provides and be able to discuss solutions to clients’ challenges
  • Stay informed on policy trends, industry shifts, and emerging issues to proactively advise clients
  • Expand the Florida-based team as Chernoff Newman gains traction with new clients

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a business development role; background in communications, marketing, public relations, government, or public service is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public affairs, communications, marketing or a related field
  • Strong ability to build networks and forge new relationships
  • Conscientious of details; follows up with clients and prospects in a timely manner
  • Understanding of the business and political landscape of Florida, particularly the greater Orlando area, is preferred
  • Proven experience managing multiple accounts successfully
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; eager to grow the firm in new areas

Chernoff Newman is looking for applicants who are detail-oriented, naturally organized and passionately creative to assist our client engagement team.

The selected candidate will be in-person in the Columbia office.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the full client engagement team
  • Assisting with client and internal meeting prep and minutes

  • Assisting with comps and other design needs (Creative Cloud experience a must)

A media intern at Chernoff Newman will have good math skills, an inherent sense of curiosity and strong problem-solving skills to work in our media buying team on Facebook and Google advertising campaigns.

The selected candidate will be based in Columbia, S.C., Charleston, S.C., or Charlotte, N.C.

Responsibilities and work projects include:

  • Help with the development of digital media plans, supporting the Planner/Buyer
  • Assist with setting up and monitoring Facebook and Google campaigns, ensuring accuracy and optimizing to KPIs
  • Help ensure creative specifications are provided and final creative is uploaded
  • Assist with reporting and analyzing buys post-campaign
  • Assist reconciling buys and clearing billing
 

Requirements:

The program offers three internships each year in the fall, spring and summer semesters, aligning with the applicant’s school schedule.

A Strategic Communications intern at Chernoff Newman will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the willingness to serve public and private sector clients, and the ability to work at a quick pace without losing attention to detail.

The selected candidate will be based out of Chernoff Newman’s Charleston office and will report to members of the Strategic Communications and Public Relations teams.

Responsibilities and work projects include:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on issues affecting clients, including legislative and governmental affairs. Analyze and synthesize information to provide comprehensive insights to assist our team in formulating effective communication strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and track key developments, including legislative activities, trends and media coverage. Prepare regular reports and briefings summarizing the findings for internal distribution.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and community leaders. Contribute to the development of engagement strategies and participate in meetings and events as needed.
  • Content Creation: Support the creation of compelling content for various channels, such as op-eds, newsletters, white papers, social media posts and website updates. Collaborate with the internal team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of messages.
  • Project Support: Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, organizing documents, managing databases, and other ad hoc tasks as assigned. Contribute to the planning and execution of campaigns, events, and communications initiatives by coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and monitoring project progress.
  • Media Outreach: Prepare media lists, assist with media pitching and monitor media coverage.
 

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to compile complex information into clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Previous experience in communications, public affairs, government relations, or related fields is a plus but not required.

Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours each week and are compensated $12/hour.
